Nobody Noticed the Guy in the Tyvek Suit- Until He Became their Last Hope

About the Author

Barton Robertson — The Real-Life Remediator

Before he ever wrote about fighting a fungal apocalypse, Barton Robertson was already walking into the places everyone else ran from.

A veteran mold remediator and indoor environmental specialist, Barton has spent over two decades in crawlspaces, attics, and flood-damaged homes, tracking contamination, containing it, and helping families take back their lives. That same fearless mindset drives The Remediator,  his explosive debut novel that blends real-world expertise with heart-pounding bio-horror.

Raised on a heavy metal soundtrack and battle-tested in the field, Barton writes with the grit of a working man and the voice of someone who’s been there. His stories may be fiction, but the fear, that’s real.

He lives in the Chicago suburbs with his wife, Cari, the inspiration behind some of the strongest characters in his work. When he’s not writing or fighting mold, you’ll find him lifting heavy at Jakked Hardcore Gym or deep into the next home improvement project with his wife.

Welcome to the official site of Barton Robertson — author, remediator, and the mind behind The Remediator.

When a genetically engineered fungal outbreak pushes humanity to the edge, one man’s job becomes its last hope.

The Remediator is a pulse-pounding bio-thriller rooted in real-world experience, scientific horror, and the kind of quiet heroism most people never notice—until it’s all that stands between them and the end.

Inside The Remediator

Meet the characters behind the chaos:

Brandon Robinson – The Remediator
A mold expert with a spine of steel and a job no one else wants. When the Mycoclysm hits, he doesn't put on the gloves, he takes them off.

Mary Robinson – The Anchor
Brandon’s wife, partner, and tactical coordinator. Calm under pressure and fierce when it counts. She keeps the mission—and Brandon—grounded.

Dave Lavado – The Engineer with a Legacy to Burn
Son of the man who unleashed hell. Shot protecting the cure. Now laying the groundwork to bring his father’s empire crashing down.

Mark Westland – The Guardian
Ex-federal agent with ghosts in his past and a Glock on his hip. Trust doesn’t come easy…but Brandon earned it.

Trey Calder – The Hazmat Cowboy
Oklahoma firefighter turned fungal detective. Knows HVAC systems better than most doctors know anatomy, and might be the key to stopping the next mutation.

Lawrence Greer – The Cleaner
Mysterious, ruthless, and always one step ahead. Nobody knows who he’s really working for, but when he shows up, it’s already too late.

Behind the Scenes

BEHIND THE SCENES — WHERE THE REMEDIATOR REALLY BEGAN

You know that moment when something clicks?

For me, it was standing in a basement, respirator on, sweat dripping, staring at a patch of black mold that didn’t look quite right. I remember thinking, what if this stuff wasn’t just dangerous? What if it was evolving?

That question sparked an idea. That idea became an obsession. And that obsession became The Remediator.

This book didn’t come from a writing desk in a cabin in the woods. It came from crawlspaces and attics. From hazmat suits and chemical burns. From two decades in the field seeing what most people never will, the kind of rot that doesn’t just eat homes, but lives.

So, when the story begins with Brandon Robinson staring down something that doesn’t belong in any basement, it’s not fiction. It’s exaggerated reality.
